The top horse at the Ocala Breeders Sales was sold for $400,000 to a Japanese bidder who wished to remain anonymous in consideration of the situation in their home country. That is a respectable price for a 2 year old race horse although far from the million dollar records of years past and better than some had expected the top horse would fetch in such a turbulent economy.
More than 2 dozen horses changed hand at the one day event and the volume of horse entries and participants was a mild surprise for evnet organizers who were expecting a smaller crowd because of the downtun in the markets. Horse lovers were out in force and everyone seemed to enjoy the spring weather with the sun shining down on the days events.
